Several times a year, Panhandle FCA, along with the WTAMU FCA, will join forces to put together a community luncheon. It will be an opportunity for all attendees to hear a great speaker from the Panhandle area, as well as a brief update on upcoming FCA events and activities, while enjoying a very good catered meal.
Rocky Russo initially joined the Amarillo Bulls in their inaugural season of 2010 as the Assistant Coach and Director of Player Personnel. He spent 3 seasons with the Bulls, culminating his time with the 2013 Robertson Cup National Championship. Rocky then moved on to become the Head Coach/General Manager of the Philadelphia Little Flyers of the Eastern Hockey League. During his time in Philadelphia, the Little Flyers amassed a record of 159-37-14, including 2 League titles and 34 NCAA College Commitments.
In June of 2017 Russo was announced as the 4th Head Coach in Amarillo Bulls history. Currently in his 3rd season as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, The Bulls hold a record of 92-39-21 in 2+ seasons with Russo at the helm. Last season the Bulls won the South Division Regular Season and Playoff Titles, and Advanced to the Robertson Cup National Tournament, before bowing out in the 3rd game of the best of 3 Semi Final Series. During his 5+ seasons with the Bulls, Russo has assisted 73 players in moving on to become NCAA Student-Athletes. During his time with the Bulls organization, the team has averaged over 800 hours of community service per season.
Russo, a native of Youngstown, OH, graduated from Kent State University in 2005 with a Business Management Degree while also playing on the Kent State Hockey team. He began his coaching career in the 2005-06 Season as an assistant coach with the Youngstown Phantoms of the NAHL, as well as the Head Coach of the Youngstown State University Hockey Team. He and his wife Melissa have one daughter, 7 month old Verona.
FCA ministry partner, Dr. Paul Matney, will emcee this luncheon. Doors will open at 11:30 AM for check-in and food service. Lunch will be served until 12:20, at which time Dr. Matney will introduce our guest speaker. FCA promises the event will be finished by 12:55 PM. Cost for lunch is $13 and payment will be taken at check-in. Reservations are required and are taken on the honor system. If your plans change, and you cannot attend, you must notify us by the Friday prior to the lunch, otherwise, we will expect you to pay for your lunch.
